Total Ethiopia and Alliance Ethio Francaise (AEF)
Total Ethiopia and Alliance Ethio Francaise (AEF) jointly inaugurated an Art Exhibition of Patrick Singh.
Total Ethiopia in its social action linked with culture and heritage renovated and opened the French artist Patrick Singh exhibition artist residence, jointly with AEF on December 1, 2014 at Alliance Ethio-Fransaise, aiming on urban and human changes in Addis-the capital, our presence in Ethiopia for more than 60 years Total Ethiopia wanted to illustrate the key changes of Addis Ababa that are affecting the daily life of its inhabitants but our life as a company. Total Ethiopia, formerly Total Red Sea, is definitely not just a petroleum company in Ethiopia. It is part of the history of the country and of its capital. So it’s quite obvious that in this time of radical changes in Addis Ababa, Total wanted to contribute to let a testimony of these changes. In the exhibition, Patrick illustrates those changes not only with great talent but also with soul, with sprit, as a clear reflect of his passion for people.
Patrick’s main inspiration seemed like fuel and more specifically Total has pumps and oil cans. Since the exhibition is about Addis Ababa, scaffoldings were on good portion of the paints. Going one step further, the artist built actual scaffolding from where he draped paintings on a canvas as well as painting on metal sheets found around the city.
Artist Patrick Singh is well known for his work reflecting social and cultural influences and experiences. His exhibition has taken him all over the world and his work is filled with different experiences he went through while traveling.
Patrick Singh is the first to become a resident at the Alliance ethio-fransaise artist residency program that was realized through a grant by Total Ethiopia.
The opening event was attended by many known artists, the diplomatic community, Managing Director of Total Ethiopia Marc de Lataillade as well as French Ambassador to Ethiopia Briggite Collet.
